ASUS N66U and AC68U - Dropping WAN only

I've been having repeated problems with an ASUS RT-N66U dropping the WAN connection intermittently. When it happens, the LAN is not affected: wired and wireless devices can continue to see and communicate with each other just fine.

It's gotten so bad that I went out and picked up an AC68U, thinking that maybe the N66U was toast (I've had it for about 3 years). Lo and behold, the AC68U is exhibiting the same behaviour.

Specifics:
ISP: Bell Aliant FibreOp 200/30 mbps (D/U)

Xbox One Strict Nat Issue

Hello everyone.

Not much to say besides that my nat type is of course strict on my Xbox One. I have never had strict nat issues with my Xbox 360 or with multiple Xbox 360's online at the same time, on the same internet, through the same router.

My question is does any one have any idea as of how to fix this problem?

I've tried some things already like manually port forwarding and even setting my Xbox One into the DMZ. None of these options have worked for me so far. My RT-N66R shows...

Port forwarding to Minecraft server fails on RT-AC68U

Hi,

I have installed a Minecraft server for my son on a Ubuntu server. It works as it should when connecting from inside the Lan.

To allow his friends to connect it, I have tried to add a simple port forwarding rule forwarding TCP and UDP from the relevant port to the server, but this does not work. When trying to connect to the external IP, Minecraft reports java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out: no further information:

I have two new Tmobile CellSpot routers. One is installed at the house in a window facing my shop which is 225 feet away. They are the TM-AC1900 models. I haven't taken the second one out of the box yet and wanted to know how I should use it?

I had a wireless N repeater installed on a small satellite dish pointing at the house and got great reception and speed, and figured replacing it with the second CellSpot, it would be even better.

Hi

I have an Asus N66U and in the UK our clocks recently went back 1 hour, In my system log the time is incorrect. Should this not be automatic, I can see there is a manual setting but Ive never had to use that in the past.

How does the asuswrt firmware implement the asp file processing?. They dont appear to be microsoft asp files which are processed by the iis servers on host pcs. They do contain what appear to be the <% and %> syntax used in microsoft asp files to invoke server commands. Do these call CGI apps, C apps or javascripts or what?

How to switch Asuscomm DDNS to a new router?

I searched quite thoroughly and didn't find much information, but apologise in advance if this has already been covered somewhere.

I want to register my public IP address with a DDNS service. Since I have an Asus router, I have decided to use Asuscomm. Some have remarked that it is not very reliable, but since my IP changes only infrequently, I think I can live with this.

What documentation I can find suggest that the Asuscomm subdomain name I choose will be tied to my Asus router's MAC...

Coaxial Modem with asuswrt

I Just installed another internet with different ISP
They used Coaxial cable to their own modem and I plug their modem to my modem.

My simple question, can I convert the Coaxial to my Asuswrt (RT N66U) and dialling using PPPoE,
their router it self using PPPoE but with very limited capability.

2x rt-ac66u DHCP problem

2x rt-ac66u is awkward one is in bridge mode the other one is a router, connections are made to both devices, BUT whenever there is a DHCP lease (once every 24 hours) all connections drop to the router and it will show a page where it says that it has updated its settings, i can set the DHCP lease to one week but the cycle will happen every week instead of 24 hours. note that i can get connected to the bridge setting page, but the router will show a page that it has updated its settings.

i have a rt n66 and a ac66 that i would like to connect together - purpose is having extra wired connections in den and longer range for wireless and also i am getting tivo roamio and possibly tivo mini to use over the air with antennae in near future - i am not an expert but have set up one router before but that is the extent of my experience here so -- i dont understand bridge or even my choices here so keep that in mind. Also i might want to wirelessly reconnect a set of 4 security...

I know quite many Mac users have Asus routers at home. So I'll share this.

Today I took the plunge on El Capitan and installed on one iMac. Not surprised to see the driver for 802.11ac (wifi chipset BCM94360) gets updated in El Cap. But amazed to find a signal boost of 6dB on the client as well as the router.

Fantastic! Nothing changed on my AC56U (fw 378.55). Neither any change to physical locations or orientation of the router or the Mac.

The new driver brings much improved beam...

Router level VPN Client. How to access home network from internet?

I have a router level VPN Client setup with Private Internet Access VPN provider on N66U running Merlin.
I am looking for a way to have access to Tvheadend programming guide running on raspberry pi from the internet in order to add or delete schedules to be recorded whilst away from home.
I was able to do this before setting up the VPN Client by forwarding ports 9981, 9982 to raspberry pi's ip address.
Tried setting up a DDNS address along with the same ports forwarded didn't help.
